Johnny Kelly and Mark Vincent are two very different men who live in two very different worlds. Johnny Kelly is an ordinary man, who works in an ordinary job, bartending in a Liverpool night club. He is quite content to live a quiet ordinary life, going to the gym during the day and playing amateur league football with his local side on a Saturday afternoon. In contrast, Mark Vincent is a local gangster who has spent years killing and working his way to the top of the local organised crime scene. For years he has ruled both his gang and his territory with an iron fist and anyone who dared stand up to him soon disappeared. 

One Saturday night the two men’s very different worlds collide as Johnny’s normal life comes crashing down when, on his way home from work, he witnesses a horrific crime carried out by two of Vincent’s assassins. Vincent’s desire to stay at the top of the game and to stay out of prison, means he will stop at nothing to silence Johnny who has to go into hiding and then run for his life when Vincent tracks him down. 

Meanwhile, Detective Inspector and twenty year veteran, Eddie Cartwright, who has been aiming to put Vincent away for years, soon finds out that despite the big break and the solid lead he has been waiting for; he has a massive task on his hands just to keep Johnny alive until Vincent is brought to trial.
